Project vs. section

Projects and sections are very distinct entities on Turtlewig. A number of sections can be part of a project, each representing a particular stage of your creative process. Each project contains at least one section.

Files cannot be moved between projects

Sections are where the sharing happens.

Projects

Projects are logical divisions where you can organize work on a particular initiative, campaign, product etc... A project is not made up of a typical folder structure you may come to expect from the cloud storage providers in the market.

When we envisioned projects for creative workflows, one of our main goals was to eliminate the need for folder inside folder inside folder structures. The reason for that is understanding and managing access levels of all your guests in such structures becomes a pain. Too often, admins end up sharing too much or too little, both of which are undesirable.

Creative work, more often than not, gets done as part of multifunctional teams, often times involving those who are not part of your company on a full-time basis. That's where the real power of Turtlewig comes in, which is of course, section sharing.

Sections

Sections are the most basic unit of guest sharing available on Turtlewig. As you know, all workspace members get full access to everything in the workspace. Guests however, get access to only parts of a project, through sections.

What sections allow you to do, is simulate one of the most common workflows in the creative industry - where feedback and discussions are first carried out internally, iterated upon, and then shown to clients, iterated upon through feedback, and then finalized and distributed.

So you can now have a full ideation moodboard, complete with colours, fonts, links, images and videos in one section, discuss the next stage of your project in another section, and when the time comes, move the assets for client approval into another section and give them guest access.

To visualise which guests have what level of access across all the sections in a project, simply go to project settings.
